The Outback FS0040 Probe Tank Float Switch is a heavy-duty 304 stainless steel level probe designed to automatically control solar pump operation based on tank or trough water level. Supplied with a 40-metre pre-attached cable, it is ideal for installations where the tank is located a significant distance from the pump or controller.

Unlike mechanical float switches, the FS0040 uses a solid stainless steel probe design, making it highly resistant to UV exposure, livestock damage, algae buildup, and long-term immersion — particularly important in rural and remote environments.

How the Probe Float Switch Works

The FS0040 is installed inside a tank or trough at the desired water level. When the water reaches the probe, the switch signals the controller to stop the pump. As the water level drops, the switch resets and allows pumping to resume.

This simple, proven control method provides reliable automatic filling without pressurising the delivery line, making it an excellent solution for gravity-fed or open outlet systems.
