The Outback AutoMate Constant Pressure Headworks Kit is a complete, installer-ready solution designed to convert any solar bore pump system into a fully pressurised water supply. By pressurising the bore delivery line, the AutoMate allows solar pumps to operate reliably with float valves, troughs, and long-distance pipe runs where float switches are impractical or unreliable.
This kit is ideal for applications where:
- The tank or trough is too far away for a float switch
- Long pumping distances create voltage drop or signal issues
- A constant pressure system is required instead of simple on/off control
The AutoMate uses a reverse-acting pressure switch and pressure vessel to automatically start and stop the pump based on system pressure, delivering smooth, stable operation without rapid cycling.
How the AutoMate System Works
When water demand opens (e.g. float valve in a tank or trough), system pressure drops. The reverse-acting pressure switch closes, starting the pump. Once pressure is restored, the switch opens and the pump stops.
The 8L pressure vessel absorbs pressure fluctuations, reducing pump cycling and protecting both the pump and controller.
⚠️ Important:
A check valve must be installed on the suction side of the system, ideally directly on the pump discharge, to prevent backflow and ensure stable pressure operation.
